Welcome to CIABA

Welcome to the online home of the Connecticut Italian American Bar Association (“CIABA”)! Formed in 1993 by the late Superior Court Judge Richard M. Marano, CIABA is a vibrant organization that aims to encourage professional excellence as well as camaraderie and fraternity in the legal profession, to advocate for diversity in the bar, and to preserve, promote, and advance Italian culture in the Connecticut legal community.  We have more than 100 members who practice in all corners of the State and represent a wide and diverse group of legal specialties, practices, and nationalities.

The diversity of our organization serves to enhance our members’ professional networks. More importantly, CIABA is an outlet for its members to gather (always over a great meal) and discuss, not only their professional experiences, but also food, travel, family history, the positive influences and contributions on American culture and law, and current events both in America and in Italy. Indeed, our members often identify CIABA as their most worthwhile and enjoyable professional affiliation.

I hope that you will consider joining, and that I will see you soon at one of our upcoming events. In particular, I encourage law students and other young lawyers to get involved. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me, or any other members of the CIABA team.

Tante Belle Cose,
